Why oh why oh why has my labryinthitis returned?!

I thought I had shot of it when it went away 3 years ago!

I've just started a new job in an office and not only do my colleagues look at me like I'm a moron most of the time for being so forgetful & spaced out, I'm sat in front of computer all day which makes my head ache & my vision go blurrier than usual!

Went to the docs last night (wasn't my usual doc though kuz she was all booked up) in the hope that he would give me something for it, or at least give me a few days off work so I could lie down & try to re-balance myself myself.

As it happens, he wasn't even sure it was labyrinthitis - he just sat there and said well...."i'm not sure what's wrong - hopefully it will just go away but if not then i guess you'll need to come back". I KNOW whats wrong with me though! its labyrinthitis! he's the only doctor i've seen that has said he's not sure....quite how he knew that is a mystery to me considering that he only took my blood pressure & nothing else! Not only that but it was nearing 6pm so I think he just wanted to get home!

He said it was probably stress or something! I think by now I know the difference between stress & Labs for crying out loud!

That then meant that I had to come back to work & tell them that the doctor didn't know what was wrong (even though I'd already told them what I thought it was) so now they probably think i've been making it up, or at least exaggerating my condition.....

Does anybody else feel their condition is made worse by stormy conditions? Its just started thundering & lightning here & suddenly the room is spinning more than it was earlier!

Its so good that there's a site like this for people to discuss there dizzy probs - it can be really lonely and frustrating sometimes as non sufferers really can't understand what its like.....

Sorry about the long rant - I hope it all makes sense too kuz I'm having trouble reading what I'm writing so I'm not sure if I've just written a load of rubbish or not!.....either way, I feel slightly better now, so thanks!

Hi Kittycat,

You must be very frustrated, especially if you feel exactly the same as you did last time you had Labs. And although it's unusual to get a recurrence, it's not impossible.
GPs often don't know a lot about balance conditions but as he said, maybe it'll get better by itself in a matter of weeks. It's usually better to try to do without the antivertigenous meds if you can though as they slow down recovery.
On the subject of stormy conditions, some people definitely feel their dizziness is affected. There are some posts on the subject on the site. I personally suffer with my sinuses and when they're bad the dizzies go mad, so pollen, dampness etc all affect my dizziness too.
It is great to have this site, it helps to share the good times and the bad, and don't worry, you've beaten labs before so if it's back you'll do it again but this time with support.

xxx
