I posted something a few months back about a flickering effect in my eyes but I don't many others had similar experiences.

I'm 8 months into VRT but am making no progress. I've noticed that my eyelids flicker when my eyes are closed (I originally thought it was caused be using a computer but I'm off work and use one about 20 mins a week so it's not that). It's like a muscle spasm but it not linked to tiredness or stress - it's there 24/7. This seems to be the cause of the flickering light effect that I can see.

At best it's irratating, at worst I have to lie down in a dark room for a few hours.

I'm guessing it's linked to the vestibular system in some way. I mentioned to my ENT specialist and they hadn't seen this before. Has anyone else out there had this kind of symptom?

All the best
Mark

Could be blepharospasms, which are not directly associated with vestibular disorders. Consider a neurology consult to investigate this.

I have had the flickering effect with my vision and I have seen it mentioned by several people on some other dizzy message boards. The closest way to describe it might be like there's a ceiling fan is on with a light above it?? (but much much more subtle) That has gotten better over time for me.

I'm not sure if I have experienced the eyelid thing or not .... I have had a feeling like my eyelids almost flutter or something when I first close my eyes and do that for a minute or so. That has also gotten better for me over time - it's really hard to explain what's going on - I kind of assumed that the feeling was because maybe there's nystagmus going on when you first close your eyes and your system is trying to adjust to not having the vision to rely on???

I guess I just assume that alot of these symptoms are because our systems and nerves are on overdrive alot of the time. For me, they seem to show up when I have been very active, driven in the car for a long time or something like that.

Hi
Nine weeks into this-with bruises and 10 stitches (maybe I'm just super clumsy!)
But 3 days ago one started to water, now the other one has joined in the fun!!
I also seem to notice 'things'in my vision to the side- when I am not looking directly at front.
Hey maybe I have developed psychic vision with this condition????

Hi, I too, get the eye flickering when I close my eyes at night, it doesn't go away till I drop off to sleep, it is not there during the day, It must be yet another symptom of this disease, if you read through this site you will see that most people have all the same sort of symptoms.
I have had all the various tests. ENT. Vestibular/balance tests, and come up with the answer," there is nothing you can do, " it will either go away eventually,or not!

I've had this eye fluttering, flickering or spasming problem for years now, but I've successfully treated it with a drug called imipramine. I first noticed it when I would close my eyes at night to go to sleep, the movement of my eyes seemed to be keeping me awake. I felt like I had to open them to relax them.

I was also getting heaaches (face aches really) because I was clenching my teeth all the time. After seeing many doctors I ended up at a neurologist who couldn't find anything wrong but prescribed imipramine as a general painkiller. Much to my surprise it worked for the face aches and the eye fluttering. This drug used to be used as an anti-depressant at a higher dosage but not so much anymore with more effective drugs available.

Recently I've tried to see what would happen if I lowered my dosage of imipramine. The first thing I noticed was the eye-fluttering came back.

I don't have any eye-problems except for one thing, I think it's called exophoria. My eyes naturally diverge outwards and therefore have to work harder for me to bring them together to focus. It seems like this could be related, but my eye doctor wasn't familar with the symptoms. She suggested eye exercises. I have not given this a try yet.
