i had my best week ever in 20 months last week.
friday i walked, not fast, but faster around the ovals and school with the dog, than i can recall

i called a couple of friends to announce that i was on a steady improve and planned this weekend to go to the south coast to visit friends when son went there for something else

saturday, in the midst of telling another friend i was feeling better, she had to quit the conversation and i figured to take dog out for a walk.
i was feeling very very strange ...............which we all know about..........but different.

so i took my blood pressure which was sky high.
(got the machine a few months ago because i needed to get my BP down a bit and do it without upsetting my balance and i wanted to monitor what was happening as we were using as mild a dose as possible)
thought i had it totally pegged.
got the kid to take me to teh doc who kept me there for a couple of hours and we worked out a tentative regime of tablets

:girl_cray: :girl_cray: :girl_cray: :girl_cray: :girl_cray: :girl_cray: :girl_cray:

that pill, at the mildest possible dose is making me sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo ooooo tired i cant describe
tireder than labs
tireder than working night shifts when too old for night shifts
tireder than living with a baby who woke 4 hours a night for 6 months

hardly moved out of the house all week except to see GP and figure i will try to stay on this pill for a bit and see if i settle.
i spoke to teh drug company re the side effects and they were pretty informative.
i have just about every side effect going......including taccycardia which i am not happy about.
for other reasons i am limited in the range of tablets i can have

i am giving it til next monday and have changed the dose to a night time one so that when i feel like *((*&^(*&(^*&^%%^* i am asleep (with any luck)
the dog did need to wake me at 6 am, after i went to sleep at 3am, to go do dog business outside... but i saw the morning star so clear and bright it was actually worth being up then

seems like the short answer is that i have a so called labile BP.....it goes all over.... and that is what it is doing.
we have a strategy to deal with another spike at home but i am treading on tenderhooks as i did this a while back but it settled asap and when in hospital when i did it it also settled with one lot of medication.
it is being more resistant this time to getting to lower levels

i can see me trying more /new/ drugs and having a not so wonderful time.
i cant believe this has happened right now when i was actually feelling so much more positive.
adn to have the drug knock me around so badly was a huge suprise

there is a reason i keep a LOT of library books and old paperbacks around so that i always have reading material

seems like i have general body crumble

Chris, I'm so sorry you've been stopped in your tracks like this!!

I'll keep my fingers crossed that you'll settle on this tablet and be back on form soon :girl_angel:

You're the greatest fighter this site has known - you just keep pushing through no matter what and you inspire me

Now get your feet up and enjoy your reading!

Hi Chris

Yes some folks are the 1% and get all the wonderful side effects but
lets keep fingers crossed that it will sort itself out soon. Maybe taking the
tablet at night is the answer. Try and plod on Chris you remind of the
children's story about the the little Engine that kept saying " I know I can,
I know I can as he climbed the little hill. " You can do it Chris.

Hugs xx

What a terrible time your'e having!!!!!
I've just had a similar fight with my (since Lab's) high bloodpressure.
My biggest problem was fluid and swelling so bad I couldn't fit into anything-expecially shoes!!
Dr. said it wasn't the pills as it only had a little mention in fine print about swelling -as he looked at the LARGEST FEET HE'D EVER SEEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
Anyway new pills/no swelling/normal blood pressure----There is hope out there
Sorry it just adds to our problems and setbacks
Hang in there-it must get better
Love and light

thanks Pam , Sandy and marg

we really dont have any choice but keep going do we...but it sure is wearing to keep up the battle

my taccycardia is reduced which is one side effect done with.
i am up earlier today so it will be intereting to see how i manage tired wise.
i am ready for bed again and it is only 9.30 am. !!
that abnormal tiredness has been a disaster with me barely managing my short sorties to the shops and with half a block of dog walk making me feel like i have climbed Everest without oxygen

son has just gone on the trip i was supposed to go on....

thanks for your kind thoughts

plod, plod

marg........are u saying your BP was ok til labs??

mine was edgy........i was keeping an eye on it.

then i did a huge spike when i was in hosp with the labs...it reponded to beta blockers very rapidly

another spike about 6 months ago just got better by itself ..,,,but was a big flashing signal and i upped my intake of a drug called Aldactone to try and get it lower.
which it was til last weekend

last weekend when the GP and i agreed i needed a specific BP pill.
i already take the Aldactone l that is part dieuretic and part BP, on account of the fluid build up i get with taking Celebrex for arthritis.

i know that swollen ankles is a side effect of what i am on, called Zanidip (minimal minimal dose) but i havnt been upright long enough to get that side effect yet

interesting that the labs has some connection for both of us.

Yes most definatly,my high blood pressure, started with Labs. I have it tested whenI go to rehab twice a week ( they have to do all the paperwork!!!)
Tried to excuse it with -maybe I have a headache coming on/long day/been babysitting!!!.Because I didn't need another pill to take.
Dr.said ''stroke or tablet-your choice"anyway small pill and I am back to normal reading.
But I am determined NOT to need it soon,by whatever means!
Should also mention, that for the first time in my life I also started hour long nosebleeds, since Labs.
Take Care
