Has anyone any thoughts on drop attacks. I started having these several years ago and never associated them with my vertigo but read on balance and dizziness site that they could connected. No-one in the medical profession has suggested this but wondered about your opinions.

True drop attacks (ie, no vertigo, no warning, no loss of consciousness, just drop to the floor like a house of cards) is known as "crisis of Tumarkin" and associated with Meniere's disease. IF the diagnosis of Meniere's has been established, and IF cardiac and cranial circulation problems have been ruled out, these are effectively treated with the same ablative procedures (gentamycin injection, labyrinthectomy, vestibular nerve section) used in controlleing the dsiabling vertigo attacks of Meniere's. If your drop attacks have ANY of the features listed in parentheses above, they are most likley NOT Tumarkin crises and the ablative procedures will most likely not help.

Hey, thanks for that. I have no warning but do lose consciousness for seconds and am able to get up and on with my business. I have been given sicknotes from GP for several different things over the years i was working ie vertigo, labyrinthitis, menieres; none diagnosed by consultants though. I have apt with vestibular disorder specialist in a few months so waiting to see what happens there.

Loss of concsiousness is not something the ENT can handle. EAr problems do not cause loss of consciousness. You need neurology and cardiology consults to sort this out. These should be arranged in a matter of days to weeks, not months.

Sounds to me like it could be syncope, but I'm not a doctor.
