Default Help! Can electronic equipment make you dizzy??

I just started a new job yesterday, and the video projection equipment we've been having presentations on emits a high-frequency sound that makes my ears ring constantly and loudly. It's like when you have the TV on and hear a ringing, only way worse.

I think it's making me really dizzy, is that possible? If it is, what can I do about it? I take meclizine, and it seems to help a little, but makes me drowsy at work. I'm going to an ENT specialist in a week or so for the first time, does anyone have any advice for until then?

Thanks!
Dan

It sounds as though you may be experiencing Tulios syndrome..where certain sound frequencies can actually induce dizziness..take a look at the top of this forum and there is a pinned article on Tulios. Have you had balance function tests?

Hi ddollar

There is a symptom that is only there in a few inner ear disorders that is called Tullio's phenomenom whereby certain sounds will make you more dizzy and of balance.I had it with low frequentie sounds, other people have it with high frequentie sound. Some people have it with use of there own voice or only with instruments or can be a combination of all of those.

This is different then sensetivity or sore to the ear feeling that a lot of people also experience with inner ear disorders,Tullio's affects the balance itself

Hope this helps

Moppie

Hi Dan

Looked like Erica and I were posting at the same time lol

Just wanted to add that most of the inner ear disorders will spontaniously heal in the first three months and you are still well in that time frame but if you are going to make
an appointment than look for neuro otologist as normal ENT just won't be of any help with this.

Take care

Moppie
