Default I'm out of the woods

Hi you all.

I haven't been posting for a while because I've been really busy at work and also in bad shape.
But finally me and my GP have found the sollution to my dizzyspells and overall weird symptoms : I've been bitten by a tick at some time!!
I've started feeling a lot better about 6 weeks ago, and 3 weeks ago I was diagnosed with Lymes disease and have now gone through 10 days with doxylin.
I had some bad days this last week but I'm feeling positive and really relieved to know whats wrong with me. Reading lists of symptoms of Lymes dis. explains soooooo much.
I'm sure I will recover completely in the end.
I'm going back to the doctor tomorrow to see if I need some more antibiotics.

I will keep you posted and never, ever have a walk in the woods again..
Lots of love for all of you.

Hi ragnhild, I'm glad you've been diagnosed and are having treatment - Lyme disease isn't nice but it's treatable so one day you'll be completely better. I wish you a speedy recovery

ragnhild - can you tell me more about your symptoms because I'm starting to wonder about this!

At the time my dizziness started I had a boil/bite on my left leg which I had been keeping an eye on as it had left my leg very red and painful, it had been there about a week when the dizziness started and I've never been the same since.

At the time the doctor agreed the dizziness was down to the bite on my leg and gave me some antibiotics and I seemed to start to get better for about a week but when it came back again they decided it was unconnected and I was diagnosed with labs instead, now I'm starting to wonder whether it was more than a conincidence after all!

I just looked up Lymes Disease and dizziness doesn't seem to come up in the list of symptoms too often and would I still be suffering 24/7 after 10 months? I guess I'm just clutching at straws but I have always wondered about that bite.

Any thoughts?

cody- just to jump in, I'd say it's totally possible. i did a lot of research on lyme and it seems it's very underdiagnosed. lymenet.com has a good message board. you have to catch lyme early for treatment so find a lyme literate doctor and starts antibioitics asap! post a message on lyme net to find a docotor who specilizes in lyme... that's your best bet.

Ranghild- make sure you treat lyme for long enough- i've heard stories it can come back- make sure to find a lyme doctor who can do the appropriate treatment.

cheers,
christine

Thanks for your response xtine03, the more I look into this the more I'm really starting to wonder. The problem is though that there doesn't seem to be anyone in the UK that actually specilises in this.

no prob... from what I've read- lyme is very prevenlent in the UK... there is this site here Lyme Disease Action, the UK based Lyme charity and i think you can contact them to help find a doctor.

good luck,

xtine

Hi Cody.

Sorry to hear about your dizzies being unresolved.
I can list up some of my symptoms : overly sleepy all the time, feeling dizzy and needing to take extra steps in order to keep on my feet, really bad "spells" make my arms and hands go prickly at first and then numb - the same happens to my face and scalp, mood swings and feeling that I'm losing my mind ( such a relief to find out that it's actually a symptom of Lymes disease )

I was first diagnosed with BPPV and had the Epley done several times, but I still was not feeling well at all.
You need to have proper tests done, they say the most accurate one is called Western-Blot.
The thing is ; you can have gotten the icky, icky bacteria and infection from a tick bite but your blod test may come back negative any way..

I feel lucky that my 2 test came back positve so I could start my treatment with Doxylin.
Most doctors here in Norway are not educated enough when it comes to Lymes disease and how to treat it, but I was lucky because my GP pescribed antibiotics - in Bergen ( where I come from ) they are quite restrictive with antibiotics as treatment for Lymes.
I contacted an expert in this field and he advised me to take the meds for 10 more days, my first initial 10 days are not sufficent to get rid of the infection he says. So I'm starting my 2. round today - wish me luck

To repeat myself ; get new test done. It's not sure that it's Lymes disease but you need to rule that out if it's not the case, and this is the 1. step then.

Best of luck and I'll try to anwer yor questions if you have any more, just remember I'm not a doctor, just a sufferer
