Default Rhodiola Rosea.

Hi everyone, I apologise in advance for the long posting but just thought I’d let you know about my results so far on taking Rhodiola Rosea. Write up says common uses – memory, attention span, mental sharpness, anxiety/panic attacks, depression, mental/physical fatigue, focus.

The one’s I am taking are Viridian maximum potency Rhodiola Rosea 250g. Directions say 1-3 per day. I get them from a local health food shop but they are available on-line (Care Directions - Maximum Potency Rhodiola Rosea Root Extract). It is worth checking the list of ingredients as I have found cheaper versions but the cheaper ones don’t have the same ingredients and that might make a difference. The Viridian make has:-
Rhodiola Rosea root extract (3% rosavins, 1% salidrozid, 40% polyphenols) 250g
Rhodiola Rosea root 130mg
Vegetarian cellulose capsule 100mg
Viridian bilberry extract, alfalfa, spirulina blend 30mg

1-5-08 Started Rhodiola Rosea only 1 today
2-5-08 Rhodiola Rosea as 2 per today
8-5-08 Stopped above tablets – have had a constant headache

Monday 12-8 restarted Rhodiola Rosea as 1 a day.

28-5-08 no return of headaches and even though the weather has been bad since 25-8-08 and I am rocking at levels 3-5 (normal levels 1-4) I am starting to notice an improvement in my mood feeling less ‘down’, brain fog really seems to be improving and although I still get tired it is not the total exhaustion I have had where I really feel as if I can’t do anything, really lethargic – it now feels more of a normal tiredness. Also seem to sleeping better. I was suffering with disturbed sleep patterns ie waking up enough to see the time and remember it every 1˝hours through the night. I am still waking about 2 or 3 times a night but not really waking up fully ie can’t actually remember the time if that makes sense, I am aware that I have woken up but not aware of anything else.

The shop I bought these tablets from did say they would take up to a month before I saw the full effects so I will try and keep you all updated.

Information on these

http://www.anxiety-and-depression-solutions.com/articles/complementary_alternative_medicine/herbs_supplements/rhodiola_rosea.php

I am also taking the following vitamins
1 x 500mg Vitamin C with 25mg of citrus bioflavenoids – I have noticed that this has helped with the tinnitus I was suffering with.
1 x Super strength Omega 3 capsule 1000mg – this has 330mg EPA and 220mg DHA – not sure what these are supposed to improve but hey they’re good for you anyway
1 x Vitamin B complex (this has 100% RDA of all Vitamin Bs). However I have just changed this to a Mega Vitamin B complex with magnesium but have only been taking this since 24-5-08 so don’t know if these will also make an improvement.

If anyone decides to give these a try – would be good if you could let me know how you get on with them

This is not an endorsement or medical opinion just my recent experience.

Mandy, 46, diagnosed Feb 08, 1 attack vertigo(?) lasting 9 weeks, 2nd attack Aug 2006 + counting, no change in symptoms, severity changes every couple of days. No meds

4-6-08 still feeling positive about these tablets. Since 28-5 have
only had 1 day of 'exhaustion' (instead of every day as before).
Have not noticed if they have affected by balance as this symptom
seems to change on a daily basis anyway. Mostly having a noticeably good
affect on my brain fog

Further follow up

27-6-08 Have noticed the following
1) Brain fog - improvement of about 90% - even managing a little bit of multi tasking lately
2) Tiredness - vast improvement lethargy now only happening very occasionally instead of daily. Still tired - but hey what can you expect when you're rocking all day - but can now function up until 10.30pm instead of 9.00pm
3) 'Down' days - now counting in days instead of weeks but to be honest can't say I was really depressed at any time more pi**ed off
4) Still wobbling at normal levels for me
5) Still stumbling with words
6) Sleep patterns - still improved now only 1 or 2 nights a week where I am conscious of waking more than once per night
7) Really haven't noticed any unpleasant side effects either

So in the interests of science - LOL - I have finished my latest supply of tablets yesterday and am going to stop taking them to make sure the improvements are not just a coincidence. If it proves that these tablets are working then I will be restarting them as the overall effect has been so positive. A friend who I have not spoken to since April phoned me the other night and commented on how much better I sounded and I have also had comments in work to the same effect

Once again I will keep you all informed

Best wishes to everyone

Thanks for this Mandy - you're like a one-woman research unit, lol. It'll be interesting to see if it was the Rhodiola that made a difference.
It's worth exploring all avenues when you suffer with dizziness.

Latest news for anyone who is interested

Stopped the tablets on the 29-6 so it's nearly 3 weeks that I have
been off them but I am going to leave it for 1 month before restarting

1) Brain fog is returning - at the moment more of a heavy mist but is
getting worst
2) Tiredness is getting slightly worst but haven't had a return of
the really awful lethargy yet
3)Mood is getting worst - more short tempered in work, more poor old
me's at home
4) Still wobbling at normal levels for me
5) Still stumbling with words
6) Sleep patterns- I am starting to notice more nights with 'disturbed sleep'

Hope you find this of some use

Ok last update on this. I am going to re-start taking these tablets after a month of not taking them and will buy some on the weekend as
1) Brain fog has return - short term memory is failing fast
2) Tiredness is getting worst but to be honest the really awful lethargy has not returned. Just needing more 'naps' when not in work
3)Mood is getting worst - more short tempered in work, more poor old
me's at home
4) Still wobbling at normal levels for me
5) Still stumbling with words
6) Sleep patterns- I am starting to notice more nights with 'disturbed sleep'
So I have proved to myself that it wasn't a coincidence and I think the tablets definitely made an improvement.
Again I hope you find this of some interest but remember it is only my opinion
Hope everyone has a good weekend
Hugs

Hi Mandy, it'll be interesting to see if you find a difference going back on the tablets now.

And you'll know for sure whether it was a coincidence last time.

Good luck
