Hi every bodies peeps, james dunno if you can do somthing with this but i thought we could find out what foods diet people are using to help get over labs or anxiety.
i use a low sodium diet no tea coffee or coke. eat loads of fruit but not bannannannaramas cuz they got loads of sugar in and sugar is bad for anxiety if you have to much brown bread, whole meal bread not white basically slow release foods/meal throughout the day 8am, 11is 1pm 3pm 6pm and snack at 7pm nothing after 9pm, ie not stimulent foods or drinks. i was just wondering if anyone else has this type of diet or if they have thought about what they eat in relavence to how there anxiety swings are. maybe we could get a healthy labs food forum going? o yea and i drink loads of water. be interestig to find out. sending loads of fairy hugs your way xxx casey ooo worng board lol

Casey my diet mimics yours - I think you covered everything.
Kim - Yep you're right - best to avoid chocolate and ibuprofen (whilst it is an anti-inflammatory and our balance mechanisms r inflamed it aggravates inner ear problems so me doc advised against it too). Sid xxxx

Hi Robin!
Sadly I seem to put on weight when I have an attack of dizziness! I get the nausea but it goes if I lie down or use Sea Bands so I still eat normally but do very little exercise. You say you eat one meal a day. In terms of keeping your body going and fighting off any infections, inflammation etc. and keeping your mood and emotions level I'm afraid it's not going to do you much good The other thing is that your body adjusts to knowing when food is going to come in. The reason we feel hungry at mealtimes is that the body has got used to the fact that food comes at that time of day, therefore it sends out hungry signals so you will feed it. If you only eat once a day your body will learn not to get hungry at other times so your appetite goes right down. (I have worked with children who have this exact problem). When you're well try eating at different times to usual for a week and you'll see what I mean! Eating at regular intervals should help your appetite to come back. I hope this is of some help to you. Take care and I hope you feel better soon. Pam xx |

Hi Robin
I don't know how long you've been suffering but in the early days I found eating a real problem too, so I had mainly smoothies, which are easy to keep down. They help with the nausea and you're getting all the minerals and vitamins you need at the same time. They can be made with fruit or veggies, whichever you prefer. For anyone who doesn't know how to make them you just need a juicer and away you go!!! My favourites are: Strawberry and greek yogurt Banana and peach Raspberry and creme fraiche Frances xxxx

Hi Robin,
I lost a lot of weight in my 1st few months and now I'm putting it on! I was v worried about my weight loss too as I lose weight v v fast and I'm not huge to start with. I definitely agree with Pam, try the little nibbles throughout the day. To start with I ate lots of plain-ish food like toast or pasta or potatoes and found fruit and veg easier to tolerate too. But it's just like the dizziness and having to move around to get better even though it makes us feel temporarily worse - you will feel a lot better when you start to eat normally again although it's tough to start with. I've found that not eating enough makes me feel more sick and my dizziness worse. I also found that I was getting wound up about eating and almost anxious about it so to start with I'd have a pile of crackers etc by me when I was on the computer etc so all my attention wasn't on eating if you get me! I also use the seabands which help a lot. If the nausea is really bad it might be worth talking to your doc about it because they're are tablets etc which maybe you could take for a couple of weeks just until you've got your eating habits back to normal. Hope this helps, Clare xxx
